Born in Hungary about 1045, came to England in 1057 and to Scotland in 1068, where Malcolm married her about 1070. Eight children. Died at Edinburgh on 16 November 1093, three days after Malcolm and her eldest son fell at Alnwick. Canonised in 1250. Through her daughter Edith, every later English king descends from the old West Saxon house.
The ætheling leaves court with his mother and sisters and finds shelter with Malcolm.
