Edgar flees to Scotland

The ætheling leaves court with his mother and sisters and finds shelter with Malcolm.

What the record says

Edgar slipped away in the summer of 1068 as Edwin and Morcar's rising collapsed. Malcolm received the family at his court and within a year or two married Edgar's sister Margaret.
