Atheling is a single-player historical strategy game made by Shane Hudson in the United Kingdom.
Atheling is designed to collect as little information as possible. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Your game data
Your campaigns, saves, characters, decisions and settings are stored locally on your device.
They are not uploaded to us or stored on our servers.
Deleting the app also deletes its locally stored game data.
Syncing saves between your devices may be added in a future version. If it is, it will be optional, and this policy will be updated first to explain what is stored and where.
Gameplay analytics
You can choose to share limited gameplay statistics to help improve Atheling.
These may include things such as which campaigns are played, which features are used, decisions made within the game, how far campaigns progress, app version, operating system and crashes or errors.
Analytics never include the contents of your save files, your name, email address, advertising identifier, contacts, photos or other personal content.
Atheling does not use analytics for advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Sharing analytics is optional and is off until you choose to enable it. You can turn it off again at any time in Settings.
TelemetryDeck is used to process these statistics. It is based in the EU and receives only anonymised data. Its privacy policy is available at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Purchases
The lifetime unlock is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payments are handled by Apple or Google and we do not receive your payment details.
Atheling uses RevenueCat to manage purchases and restore purchases. RevenueCat receives an app-specific identifier and information needed to verify and manage your Atheling purchase.

Website
atheling.games is a static website hosted by Netlify.
The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Netlify may process ordinary technical information, such as IP addresses and browser information, as part of operating and securing the website.

What we don't do
Atheling does not:
- require an account or sign-in
- upload your saves or campaigns
- collect your name or email address
- use advertising identifiers
- show advertising
- track you across apps or websites
- sell your information
