Esegar, staller to Edward the Confessor and sheriff of Middlesex. Wounded at Hastings and carried back to London, where Guy of Amiens has him directing the defence from a litter and treating with William. His lands passed to Geoffrey de Mandeville; his fate after 1066 is not recorded, and the death year here is a guess.
